Introducing our Children to Challenging Topics

Assalamoalaykum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatohu,
My name is Dr Abdul Qader Ismail (BMBCh, MA, PhD, MRCPCH). Alhamdolillah, I am the author of 'An Introduction to Challenging Topics for Young Muslims' - a two volume book set for teenagers, parents, and Madrassa teachers.
I am looking to raise £4800 to print and distribute 600 copies of this book set to Madrassas throughout the UK.
For every £8 you donate, I will be able to provide one free copy to a Madrassa (=£4 per book).
Children in today’s world are bombarded with information at an ever-decreasing age and from an ever-increasing number of directions. From what they see on TV, hear on the news, experience online and discuss with their school friends, much of what they are exposed to is from a secular and sometimes Islamophobic background. Unfortunately, the effect this can have is to create serious doubt regarding their faith, with which they have not yet developed a strong, personal relationship.
How can this be avoided? By us, as Muslim parents and Islamic school teachers being proactive and having the courage to talk to our children about these challenging socio-religious topics. The topics covered in these books include:

- The Qur’an and Hadith
- Different Sects and Schools of Religious Law
- The Death Penalty and Hudud Punishments
- Jihad
- Riba
- Science, and the Theory of Evolution
- Environmentalism
- Racism
- Gender Issues

- Relationships and Marriage
- Overeating and Obesity
- Alcohol, Recreational Drugs and Smoking
- Gambling
- Tattoos and Body Piercings
- Pornography and Masturbation
- Male and Female Circumcision
- Contraception and Abortion
- Blood and Organ Donation
- Vegetarianism
- Coping with the Stress of Exams
- Anxiety, Depression, Self-Harm and Suicide
By introducing these topics in a safe environment and opening their eyes to the beauty and complexities of Islam, their faith will be strengthened, their relationship with us will be based on open and honest communication, and they will be prepared for the wider world.
