Into Darkness Into Light

A multidisciplinary installation, bringing together sacred laments with recorded testimony and ASMR through a play of light and directional sound.

Based in de Papegaai, Amsterdam during May, this installation explores how we might find alternative ways to safely hold each other in a space of community and consolation, through sacred baroque laments, light, space and recorded testimony of people's lived experiences.

We'll be recording sacred laments along with real testimonials and texts from tenebrae services to create an audio-visual experience where people are held and given space to process their emotions.

We've been lucky enough to receive a grant of 5000 EUR from Gemeente Amsterdam, but we still need a little more to make this project a success. All money raised will go towards covering our costs. That means venue hire, equipment hire for both the recordings and the installation, and finally, fair pay for our artists and musicians. We believe that art is work and that artists deserve to be paid for what they do, even when it is done out of love.
