International trip to The Azores with Girlguiding

Hi, my name is Heidi and I've recently been selected to represent the Anglia region in an international trip to The Azores. The selection process started with a county selection, where only a handful got through, including myself, which then progressed to regional. At regionals, there were many Guides, Rangers and Leaders all fighting for selection. Fortunately, I was chosen for the trip in summer 2025 and this is why I'm here!

Throughout my life I have been involved with Girlguiding, which has led me to go on a variety of experiences with my local units. Now that I'm a Ranger, I've been fortunate to attend trips further away from home which has inspired me to do more! Last summer, I went to Essex Jamboree for 7 nights and had an amazing time. I got to meet loads of new friends from Australia, Norway, Japan, Ukraine...the list goes on. Due to this, me and my friends were inspired to go on more international trips and put our names down straight away.

The Azores are little islands in the mid-Atlantic that come under Portugal. The islands have dramatic landscapes, beautiful sunsets and has the occasional plane stopping by to fill up for the rest of its journey over to America. They are also home to an erupted volcano hole that is filled with bright blue water.

Whilst we're out there we are going to be camping, going on boat trips, meeting guides from the USA navy basecamp, canyoning, exploring the local cultures and geothermal pools.

All of this comes with a hefty price tag and as well as this page, I will be fundraising by making crafts, hosting a bingo night and doing several other fundraising events.
