International Baccalaureate Trip to Costa Rica

Dear Donor,

I am the proud Vice Principal of Science Park High School in Newark, NJ. We are one of the best public high schools in the entire state and are consistently ranked amongst the top 30 NJ high schools by U.S. News & World Report. Last year's graduates were accepted to some of the best universities including Harvard, MIT, Princeton, Columbia, Georgetown, Cornell, NYU, and many more.

One of the distinguishing features of our high school is the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. Through this rigorous college-level program, students gain exposure to a variety of courses across philosophy, sciences, history, mathematics, and world languages (Spanish, Portuguese, and French).

Although my students gain a tremendous amount of knowledge, perspectives, and critical thinking skills through these courses, they do not have an opportunity to engage in any experiential learning opportunity before graduating high school.

For the International Baccalaureate class of 2024, I would like to provide them with a capstone project that connects classroom learning to the real world. In collaboration with EF Tours, I want to organize an 8-day trip to Costa Rica during the students' spring break (March 28-April 4, 2024).

This is a specialized educational tour specifically targeted toward motivated high school students. The program includes visits across multiple cities in Costa Rica that incorporate historical sightseeing, cultural events, and community engagement with locals.

Attached is the complete itinerary of the EF Tour known as Costa Rica Explorer. The cost per student is $2,949 that includes round trip flight from Newark, NJ, hotel accommodations for the 8 days, and most of the meals. There will be three staff members chaperoning the trip, including myself.

I am seeking to raise a total of $60,000 USD to fund this trip for my students. I hope that you find it in your heart to support this worthy cause that will provide my students with a unique opportunity of a lifetime.
