Hi everyone. I am facing five chronic medical conditions including Multiple Sclerosis and Peripheral Neuropathy, to name two. Early and unplanned depletion of savings coupled with the inability to work full-time has facilitated my request for interim help. Being single doesn’t help either, as I have no one to help pick up the slack.
The most expensive drug that I use is one for Multiple Sclerosis. The drug is one of a handful of disease modifying drugs available for use in the treatment of MS. It works by trying to prevent further brain and spinal cord lesions from occurring, thus fewer relapses and hopefully less disability progression. There is currently no cure for MS. The above mentioned drug has a cost of about $5000 per month. Thankfully, the drug is being provided by Sanofi Genzyme, the drug's manufacturer, at no cost to me for one year. I will need to reapply for assistance with subsequent years as time moves forward . I have additional pharmaceutical needs for management of my coexisting chronic conditions. I need your help with paying for these additional drugs, the co-pay’s at periodic doctor visits (I have not met my individual insurance plan’s sky high deductible yet, or the out of pocket maximum), for food, gas, shelter, utilities and to pay the premiums on the medical insurance that I do have, until I can get my situation more stabilized.
I have applied to the Social Security Administartion for disability assistance, and thus far have not been accepted. My neurologist has provided 781 pages of medical documentation to the Social Security Admin. and my attorney is working my case with necessary appeals. I hope to be approved for disability assistance before too long, but this process can take months. It is during this time that I need your help. I am doing a little bit of part-time work from home, which generates a small and sporadic amount of income, not enough to make ends meet. I have sold, or am in process of selling my personal belongings. I have received some
assistance from my only sibling and cannot place additional hardship upon her.
If you work for a manufacturer of medical equipment, specifically CPAP equipment, perhaps you can help me with medical equipment needs? I am on CPAP. My current equipment is not functioning properly. Unfortunately, CPAP equipment is not covered under my individual health insurance plan. I cannot tolerate full face masks as I become claustrophobic.
This is a very humbling experience to say the least.. I feel uneasy about asking for donations, but have simply run out of options. I urgently need your help! I realize there are many people in need, and I am hugely grateful for any donation, regardless of the amount. I will keep you updated on my progress.
