Interactive Karaoke lighting: A Shack of Sit, BRC
Donation protected
This is a fundraiser for a Burning Man interactive project; for A Shack of Sit, part of Snowflake Village.
Thanks to Singer, A Shack of Sit brought karaoke to the playa for our first time in 2022 and it was a big hit! To draw in more people and make karaoke performers feel even more like rock stars, Hollywood is creating an interactive lighting display to support the stage, synced to the music.
Details:
- The lighting array attaches to our camp's 7m truss arch that goes over the back of the stage
- Vintage suitcases will be used as enclosures for LED lights and attached to the truss with clamps. Cables will run between the suitcases
- At the top of the arch, there will be a "coat of arms" lit with LED tape
- On the coat of arms will be a 16x16px LED display that can be programmed to do things like count down to the start of the song or provide simple text and animations
- It will be controlled by a raspberry pi to allow for programmability and future interactivity
- It is designed to use the suitcases to fit compactly into storage crates between burns
