Intensive Feeding Therapy Program For Lucas

Hi everyone, so some of you may or may not know that our son Lucas has been struggling with feeding for years now. He has severe sensory issues with food and unfortunately refuses to eat anything other than the pureed foods we prepare for him. Because of this, he is severely underweight and we fear if this keeps on he will need a feeding tube to stay healthy. We have tried countless outpatient therapies but nothing has worked. We found this amazing 8-week intensive feeding therapy in boca raton, fl called Pediatric Feeding Institute of South Florida, that has 100 percent success rate in having kids like Lucas eat different types of foods. Unfortunately the program costs $28,000 plus cost of stay and meals for the 8-week program. They also do not allow financing and requires we pay $3,500 a week for a total of $28,000 for the 8 week program. Also, this program is not covered by insurance. This program is 3 hours away from our house and would require me to go on unpaid medical leave from my job at the hospital as a nurse for at least 2 months. My husband would have to undertake the financial burden this would bring and work overtime at his job as a State Trooper to cover financial costs for me. This 8-week program would require not only that I leave my job for a 2 month period but that I would have to stay with my son Lucas at a hotel nearby for the full 8 weeks. The program requires we visit the center 3 times a day for feeding therapy so we would not be able to drive back and forth. If for any reason we exceed our goal we will use the additional funds for Lucas’ speech therapy service that is also not covered by our insurance.
