A few months ago, my cat Storm had a medical emergency that made getting insurance seem viable, since she's getting older. My mom signed her and my other cat up for insurance, and I thought it would be a good opportunity to get her teeth problems fixed. We've known about it for a few years, and I thought having insurance would help relieve the costly bill on my shoulders. I got the estimate and gave the go-ahead to some phenomenal local vets.

I didn't quite realize how severe her teeth problems were until day of her surgery. Almost all of her molars were removed and almost all of her canines were amputated. But, disregarding any instance where she has to take medicine, she's been so much happier with her teeth removed than when she had those painful teeth in. Like, a little too much. She keeps begging me for food much more often now. She's already kinda chunky as-is.

But to have her so happy like this, I would do anything I can to make sure she lives a longer, happier life than her former life as a stray. So, with the hopes I could repeat this with my other cat, who does have similar teeth problems but not nearly as severe, I submitted an insurance claim for the surgery.

They reimbursed zero dollars and zero cents.

I really went into this hoping that I could give both of my cats a better quality of life, and while one of them does get that, it does mean I am now nearly $3k down with no savings to my name to make this any easier. It really just puts into question of "why get insurance for my cats at all" if they are just going to make me take a leap without any rope.

The hope for this GoFundMe is very simple: Cover the bills, and relieve myself of this worry.

Regardless, thank you so much if you do donate. I know my cat isn't a huge blip in this space of the internet, but she's got a big cat-shaped hole specifically for her in my chest.
