Anyone who’s met our mother has encountered the best humanity has to offer. She is pure hearted, never has an unkind word to say about anyone, and is always the first to help even a total stranger. Now, she finds herself in need of the same compassion and generosity she has lived by all of her life. The failures of our for-profit healthcare system are brought glaringly into focus as she runs into obstacle after obstacle while trying to finish her chemo treatment. She has had four of her six treatments done after a successful surgery to have the tumors removed. Now that her short-term disability has ended, so has the insurance she’s had through her employer of over twenty years. They refuse to finish the chemo, and to complete the scan ensuring the cancer is gone, until she has paid the aforementioned amount despite having no income. We are grateful for any cent you can spare in helping us meet this goal and putting this experience behind us.
