We all donate to worthy causes when the strings of our hearts get tugged on, and I think this is a legitimate request. Tony has been my friend since the 4th grade, and I have witnessed him through many ups and downs throughout his life. He has always persevered without the assistance of anyone, pretty much making it on his own. He's not going to be overly pleased when he gets word of what I am trying to do, and I'm certainly not going to divulge much of his personal past. So here goes: He and his wife Cara live in a very modest home in a modest neighborhood. Tony has been on a fixed income from a disability for many years, and Cara recently retired from the retail community. Their primary incomes are fixed with Social Security, and a little extra from finding and selling antiques. They recently had their homeowner's insurance canceled due to a drone flying over and saying their roof is dilapidated and no longer eligible for them to insure. They have some equity in their home, but were told that they now do not make enough money to qualify for the Home Equity Line of Credit. They do not have the $15k to $25k, per contractor quotes, to replace the roof, and they face foreclosure from the bank if they do not find the insurance. This is where the GoFundMe comes in.
