From Mom: “Please help my husband and I with the medication cost our insurance denied! ❤️

He has been taking this for 3 years and a few days ago they denied the prescription refill costs, which was 100% covered, and now is $1,000/week I’m spending out of pocket!

He has a very weak liver and this medicine does its job of killing ammonia creating bacteria. Without this medication he spirals into ammonia poisoning within 2 or 3 days in which he needs to be hospitalized because he hallucinates, becomes erratic, vital signs go crazy, and can kill him very quickly. I’ve had a few scares at home alone already where I needed help just to get him to the hospital!

Im working as hard as possible to work with the insurance company to understand how this can be fixed but I’m looking at total financial ruin here very quickly without any help! I bought a few days worth of this medicine cash (6 pills total, that are to be taken twice daily, for $400 - that’s 3 days worth…)

There’s no telling how long this insurance lapse may be… I’m asking for help with one week but based on what I’ve seen with insurance companies I’m scared this may last months in which case the costs could be $4,000…. $10,000… $50,000… There’s no telling, I’ll take any amount to help but need to start somewhere, because I need this medicine right now!”
