Recently my mother Mary was diagnosed with COPD (Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) a debilitating disease that affects the heart and lungs. Shortly after she was diagnosed, she fell ill with pneumonia this resulted in her being airlifted to a hospital, where she spent 2 weeks in the ICU. After this long battle my mom has started to recover but is still severely weakened.
She has been receiving physical and respiratory therapy at a long-term care facility, yet after two weeks the insurance company has decided to cut her off from her care. She is still so weak that she is unable to move herself and requires nurses to change her position every two hours. The physical therapist has said that she will get stronger and healthier, but it will take time.
Currently the insurance company is trying to send her back home despite knowing that my mom and dad live off-grid without enough solar to power her oxygen machine through the night. Without this oxygen machine she will die. They know all of this and yet are fighting to cut her off from her care.
I would like for you to know a little about the person your generosity will be going to help save. She worked worked as a teacher with at risk youth, worked nearly 13 years as a caregiver for the developmentally disabled and management positions in the field, she would regularly work overtime to provide the care her patients needed. She volunteered often at our local food bank and local library and has been an entrepreneur. With this in mind I hope that you will help my mom with her path to recovery. We intend to use the funds to extend her stay at the long-term health facility which costs 8600 a month, to upgrade her home so she can be safe, provide any nursing care she may need and finally any necessary legal fees.
With deep gratitude our family thanks you for your generosity it will not be forgotten.
