In Support of Tom Jones Loving Wife

Many of us go through life being blessed day after day with our health, family, friends, jobs, and we don’t even realize it. Perhaps, some of us do, and we give thanks to God for our daily blessings. Unfortunately for most of us, it isn’t until we lose something that we realize the blessings we once had.
Denise Jo Jones “Jo” married the love of her life, Tom Jones in 2010. They happened to be neighbors and ended up falling in love. They married after dating for 4 years. Tom , a hard working man, found himself ill with the flu a few weeks ago, or so he thought. He ended up in the ER, and soon found out he had pancreatic cancer. Tom was willing to fight for his life, but complications from treatment for a blood clot took his life just days after his diagnosis. Jo’s world was shattered, they hadn’t digested his diagnosis of cancer yet, let alone death. Jo is semi-retired from teaching and landscape design. She spent her days taking care of their home and helped take care of their grandchildren. Now, Jo has found herself a widow, without an income, a mortgage to pay, many medical bills, and now a funeral to pay for. She is barely coping with her grief, let alone all of this. She is clinging to God for peace and provision. My husband and I (Bobby & Tracy) felt led to start a “Go Fund Me“ on her behalf.
For those who believe in the Bible, 1 Timothy 5:3 states “give proper recognition to those widows who are really in need.” What Paul was saying is that we need to help the widow financially. For those of you who have inquired on how you can help, this is your opportunity.
The secret to living is giving. Many times in life we miss out on opportunities to show others that people really do matter, and that we care. We all have basic human needs for significance, certainty, variety, love, connection, growth and contribution. When we give back to others, we become a part of something bigger than ourselves.
