Instruments for Saved by Music Foundation

Hi everyone, hope you're well. We've set up this page to help raise funds to support the Saved by Music Foundation in Mbale, Eastern Uganda.

 

There is a small group of us travelling to Mbale in June to volunteer and teach at the foundation and we are hoping to purchase a range of new instruments on arrival.

 

SBMF was established in 2009 to combat poverty within the local community with a particular focus on supporting vulnerable children and at-risk youth.

 

Using the mediums of music and dance the foundation provides education and mentoring as well as food, clothing and shelter for local children who are in need of essential necessities.

 

Speaking with our contact Freddie who runs SBMF, we were made aware that there is currently a need for a range of new instruments and equipment at the centre.

 

The foundations primary source of income is from public music performances and donations. However, up until recently these channels have been quite severely impacted during the COVID-19 Pandemic. These factors combined with a general rise in the price of commodities and cost of living has had a severe financial impact on SBMF.

 

We realized it would be a missed opportunity not to ask our friends and family and wider community to help contribute financially if at all possible.

 

Our aim is to raise $1500 which will allow us to buy a range of new equipment and instruments (listed below) that will be used to teach and perform and help facilitate the ongoing creation of self-sustaining sources of income.

Any excess of this will be used by the foundation for the day to day operations of the centre.

 

Your donation will overall contribute to an organization that provides essential services for young people in true need of support, imparting life skills and providing materials that help these kids to become skilled and self-sustainable.
