Hello! While I teach on a Fulbright grant at Swaneng Hill School, I am partnering with members of the faculty to acquire instructional materials. This senior secondary school in Botswana is striving for materials that will build its capacity to implement the recently adopted national curriculum, especially its collaborative learning focus.
The school was built before Botswana's independence and largely through the industry of the youth and residents of Serowe, the surrounding village. In line with this original spirit of the community enterprising on behalf of the school’s development, students are producing art for this fundraiser. From a heartland and birthplace of the country, the Swaneng Hill students are showcasing national heritage in their art, as they see it from the vantage point of growing up in this historical setting. The Fulbright core value of promoting cultural understanding will also steer what they choose to feature in their pieces.
In appreciation of every $75 donated, you will receive a student drawing (examples shown above). These will be mailed in October at the close of the art competition that the student body is participating in. Thank you for any support you might be able to offer!
