Support the Institute for Digital Humanity in 2024

We all know that unregulated technology -- biased AI, unconstitutional surveillance, disinformation (on both sides), and endless debates over free speech and hate speech - is tearing our lives, communities, and country apart. And we all know that the time to fix it is quickly running out.

But here's the good news: Right now -- like: right now -- there is an open window to solve this crisis in time.

  • The IDH has (maybe the only) proven, holistic, non-partisan solutions and civic blueprints that can help save post-digital America in time.
  • The IDH’s story – of citizens putting their differences aside to work together – is the story America desperately needs to hear right now.
  • The IDH already has the ear of local, state, and national elected officials and decision-makers. (And we have interested investors, clients, schools, elected officials, literary agents, and documentary producers.)
  • The IDH's non-profit business model is, by design, self-sustaining. (So we aren't relying on donations.)

That said: The IDH needs to level up -- immediately -- to move fast on these once-in-generation opportunities to ensure that the rights of all Americans are represented in this fight for a just, free, and sane post-digital world.

Every dollar helps, folks:

  • So if we convinced you already, hit that donate button (and sleep better tonight).
  • We are setting our first fundraising goal at a modest 50k since that lets us move on some immediate monetization opportunities to keep growing our staff.
  • But if you are interested in a sizable donation (so we aren't spending valuable time on fundraising) but want to talk to us directly first, reach us at https://www.theidh.org.

Not yet convinced? Here's our strategy and story.

For 20 years, the experts at the IDH have been building proven and bi-partisan solutions to fix this inevitable dumpster fire collision between unregulated technology and our free speech principles and Constitutional rights.

So whoever you are – regardless of your politics, faith, or identity – the Institute for Digital Humanity is the best investment you can make to:

  • Fix our colleges by mediating disputes between protecting free speech and regulating hate speech. (And showing them how to teach the First Amendment).
  • Fight against the biased, illegal, and unethical AI and algorithms that are ruining lives.
  • Restore shared reality by combating disinformation that is destroying the country.
  • Protect our privacy and secure our data before it is used against us.
  • Educate companies, governments, and schools on technology ethics.
  • Catalyze and curate public discussions on digital rights.
  • Advocate for policies that ensure a just and sane digital future for all of us.

Where your money goes:

The IDH believes in financial transparency. (Because -- dollar for dollar -- no one even comes close to beating us.). And so -- at this make or break moment for our country, humanity, and digital civil rights -- here are the benchmarks for how we are spending your hard-earned cash:

$0-50k: Keeps the doors open so we aren't shutting down ongoing conversations and initiatives with:
  • Local, state, and national elected officials (who are looking for bipartisan AI, privacy, and disinformation solutions);
  • schools (trying to solve the college free speech mess);
  • bipartisan advocacy coalitions in the Midwest;
  • literary agents, podcast distributors, and documentary producers.

50k-100k:
  • All of the above, plus we start moving on our documentary project, uploading nearly 2TB of community education materials, and start creating our interactive educational platform.

At 250k
  • We start hiring half of our core team back full time, which allows us to start networking and training 100s of volunteers, students, and advocates. (Since the country is on fire and -- no matter what party you belong to -- all bets are off after election day.)

At 600k:
  • We can hire our entire core team back. Everyone splits their time 50/50 between advocacy/public education work and securing paying clients.

At 1.2 M
  • We have the bandwidth to go 100% on advocacy and monetization, ensuring that we are economically self-sufficient w/only 2 major governmental/educational clients. (This isn't our first rodeo, we've been turning big clients down for lack of infrastructure. We just grew too fast.)

Anything over 2M:
  • The IDH takes the lead as national leaders/influencers on AI ethics, privacy, disinformation, and free speech/hate speech. (Because, again, the country is on fire.)

What the IDH Could be Doing Today -- Literally -- Instead of Fundraising;

  • Fixing our colleges by fall semester: With the only proven and plug-and-play, bipartisan, interactive, and experiential free speech, AI ethics, disinformation, and civics curriculum that connects students -- from across the filter bubble -- into one giant civic conversation on our post-digital world.

  • Sending out our requested AI ethics, free speech, privacy, and disinformation blueprints to interested local, state, and national elected officials and attorneys: Providing critical guidance as humanity-defining legislation is being considered and passed.

  • Acting on our unprecedented political coalition of liberals, conservatives, Christians, Muslims, and Jewish Americans: To regain our shared reality and push for the common sense legislative and educational reforms (on AI ethics, privacy, disinformation, and free speech) that everyone else thinks are 'impossible."

Still not convinced? Or you want to help but don't have cash. (Trust us, we get it.) Head over to www.theidh.org to learn more about our volunteer and partnership opportunities.

Because the fight -- for a just, free, and sane post-digital world -- is not over. And working together, we all can still win.
