We are dedicated to repairing and mending the relationship amongst the African American community and Dominicans in Washington Heights, Inwood, and other Afro-descendent Americans in the United States.
Our mission is to create spaces for dialogue and education to support and contribute to the unity of US residents from across the African diaspora by addressing the anti-blackness, anti-African in the Afro Latinx and Afro-caribbean and other communities. We will be highlighting systemic division that has strived in segregating us, and the detriment of all BIPOC who are impacted by racism in the United States.
Our first action will be in two different locations.
We hope to reach particularly the elders in Dominican community, ages 40+, who have had more limited access to education and discourse to help them build a more comprehensive analysis of their internalized inferiority and bias.
We plan to host bilingual bimonthly gatherings in local spaces in New York City or online.
We need funding to print educational materials, compensate speakers and facilitators, and pay for essentials like food and beverage for the audience.
Our second action will take place in the Puerto Rican community of Spanish Harlem as our third action will be held at 125th street in Harlem to report to the African American community and to let them know of the work that is being done to bring all communities together.
Your support is most needed. While our white allies are busy trying to create safe spaces for the Children of the African Diaspora we at Blaxk Lives United- New York main headquarters, also acknowledge that ethnicity and cultural relationships among our immediate communities need to drastically improve.
