My name is Denine Voegeli, and I am an Earth Science teacher at a middle school in a small, rural town in Southeastern Minnesota. With 31 years of experience in teaching science, I continue to obtain immense joy from working with my 8th-grade students.
Currently, we are seeking funding to update our classroom weather station, which is unfortunately non-functional. Given that the existing station is over 20 years old, the necessary equipment for repairs has become obsolete. An updated weather station would empower my students to collect data using instruments located on the school's roof and share this information with local weather reporters.
Additionally, students will enhance their understanding by making weather observations, tracking weather patterns, and developing a comprehensive knowledge of how our weather and climate impact the Earth's atmospheric system.
