insight180 Flood Recovery

My name is Aimee and I’m a friend of Wendy Baird.  Wendy has had a branding and design firm, insight180, in historic Ellicott City for more than 18 years and it is an integral part of the community in Howard County and beyond.

In 2016, Ellicott City experienced devastating flooding and insight180, along with the majority of businesses along Main Street, were destroyed.  Wendy, with the support of her team and the community, worked diligently to rebuild and just 13 short months ago reopened her beautiful office, just a few blocks up Main Street, still in the heart of historic Ellicott City, on higher ground to the historic Merryman House. The 180 year old historic building they moved into had sustained very little damage in 2016 flood compared to her last space.

On May 26, 2018, devastating flash floods once again struck Ellicott City ravaging Main Street, and tearing apart the businesses people worked so hard to rebuild.  Because Wendy has been through flooding in the past (2016 and prior) she put measures in place during the design and renovation of her new space to protect against this as much as possible.  Even so, her office took on 14 inches of water and there are still several thousand dollars worth of furniture and equipment that will need to be replaced.

Anyone who knows Wendy knows that she is someone who cares deeply about her community, is constantly supportive of others, and continually gives back.  Even during this challenging time she is quick to point out that she is very lucky.  Compared to other businesses in the area, she and her team will still be able to service their clients remotely while they simultaneously work to once again clean up and repair their space.

So many people have reached out asking how they can help Wendy. It’s hard to know when she is allowed to bring other people in due to the vast infrastructure damage around town. Donations will help alleviate expenses that come up and take care of some immediate needs. Any money donated is set up to go directly to Wendy to immediately help with recovery efforts.  Thank you!
