Dear Kirtan Crazies,
I write to you fresh from a week of recording and performing with Gaura Vani in New York. Those of you who know Gaura can imagine the joy, bliss and energy I'm living in right now. Those of you who have chanted with us before can taste it even as you read this (I like to imagine). The more I play with Gaura, the deeper our connection becomes and the more excited I am about what we are creating together. This is why I'm reaching out to you now.
Gaura and his mom, Rukmini, are leading a retreat and tour in India in January, and we are working to make it possible for me to join them as a musician and helper along the way. We are appealing to the community to help this happen by raising money to cover travel, accomdations and other expenses. Read below to hear what Gaura has to say about it:
"Greetings friends and fellow Bhaktas,
Over the past 3 years, I have had the joy of collaborating with the guitarist and drummer Elijah Tucker. Many of you have chanted with us at BhaktiFest, The Barcelona Yoga Conference, the Bhakti Center, at Chant for Change and at The Omega Ecstatic Chant Festival. He will be joining me as we ring in the New Year at the Sivananda Ashram in the Bahamas. Recently, we began recording my next record together, the sessions for which have been full of love and deep grooviness. This collaboration continues to grow and develop in beautiful ways, and we've been brainstorming about the next steps in that development. My mother and I are leading a retreat to India in January. It will be filled with music and visits to wonderful sites. Following this retreat, I'll be spending two additional weeks in Mumbai offering a series of kirtans. Elijah has the dates available, and we are eager to find a way to bring him along in service of further deepening the work we are making. The catch is, we don't have it in the budget to bring an extra musician. So we are putting our wish on the altar, and asking the community to help sponsor his trip. Any money we raise will go towards covering his costs of travel and accommodation. If we exceed that, the remainder will be used to offer him an honorarium for his time and talent. So, if you want to have a hand in supporting the growth of a powerful musical and devotional collaboration, and wish to contribute to this effort, please do!
With deep gratitude,
I will be updating supporters regularly via this site and Facebook with pictures, videos of our music and other wonders of the road. Plus, every donor will receive a selection of my records, including my latest, "Hey Day" which has not even been officially released yet!
Many thanks for your support of living artists,
