inQluded: Retreat at Highlights Foundation

inQluded  is a platform for/by QTBIPOC youth of color. our digital magazine is in direct response to the publishing industry. you can buy our issues here . our on the ground programming invites all LGBTQIAAP+ identifying young people to join!

my name is medina (they/them). i am a second year mfa candidate at the new school in nyc. i'm represented by marietta zacker.

as a nonbinary trans latinx, I struggled to find representation. from the books i devoured, to the magazines i so desperately wanted to see myself in, it was as if i didn't exist in mainstream media. it's so important that we see ourselves reflected back at us & equally important that the reflection is authentic.

i am the founder of inQluded!

our mission

to create a youth-led safe space that honors and celebrates the narratives of underrepresented voices of  QTIBIPOC. our magazine that is for/by QTBIPOC youth is a direct response to the publishing industry.

we will be partnering up with the fabulous people at Highlights Foundation  for our own custom inQluded retreat in  beginning of September. this retreat will be open exclusively to queer folx of color (QTBIPOC).

we want to break down any financial barriers and open up our gofundme to help support our attendees and provide each one with a full scholarship. our goal is 5,000 dollars.

if we make more than 5,000 dollars (YAY and thank YOU)

the remainder of the donations will go towards our regular programming.

we believe that all creatives should be paid for their work. we want to be able to pay every contributor and our editorial staff!

here's a breakdown of how your donations will help:

digital space

your donations will help pay our writers/contributors and editorial staff.

event spaces

we want to be able to host events around the city.  which means we need to pay our staff, guests, and provide food and drink. connecting with community offline is essential! (author panels, socials, etc)

we want to continue facilitating free  workshops for emerging young artists. in order to make this happen we need to pay for rental space, pay instructors for their time and provide food and drinks. right now we have an incredible opportunity to teach a creative writing workshop at a local LGBTQ homeless drop in-center; your donation would immediately help with these expenses.
