Small Business Recovery Fund

Hello everyone,
Over the past 20+ years my South Korean immigrant dad has worked day in and day out, putting his all into building a stable business in order to support our family. Through those many years, he has seen a multitude of people and found friendship while working in the south Chicago area. After meeting these people, he was heartbroken after witnessing the events of George Floyd and avidly supports the need for change. He makes it clear that our family and business stands for the protests against the injustice that runs through our country. Despite supporting the protests, the violence and looting towards small business’ that trails the protesting is something that we cannot support. There are people who protest and advocate social change and there are people who take advantage of the protests as an excuse to commit belligerent acts of hatred.

Like most small businesses, Venus Fashion has already been negatively impacted by COVID-19 and as phase three was just a couple days away, we were thrilled to hear that we could reopen. However, before we could, Chicago experienced a wave of looting that destroyed our store.
On Sunday morning (5/31/20) 11am, the culmination of my dad’s work in the US was destroyed in an instant. We were able to see videos of groups pulling and tugging at the gate, crawling in and out with boxes and carts of merchandise on social media. These people were not for the protest, these people came with an intention to destroy his small business.

As the face of our household, our father tries to keep calm and move forward, yet we can see his facade slipping as he had make calls and text to the right people and his employees. It would mean more than the world to my family if you could take 10 seconds out of your time to lift up a prayer for us.

I created this GoFundMe page because Venus Fashion is the main source of income for my family, as many unexpected financial burdens and anxieties have suddenly risen. Our goal with these funds is to rebuild and restore what has been destroyed, and re-establish normalcy for us and our employees at Venus Fashion. The restoration process will take a long time, but hopefully, with these donations we can restore items such as: fixation of broken windows, doors, shelves, racks, display windows, mannequins, merchandise, flooring, cash registers, hangers, and much more. Whatever amount will be taken in with much gratitude!

* If you are unable to donate, please share this to your friends and family.*
We trust that God will bring the right people to pray and donate and we know that God is watching over this country.

Thank you and best regards,
The Yang Family
