2023 Charity Fundraising in memory of Nan

Hi, I'm Kieran and I'm using this platform as a way to fundraise for multiple charities throughout the year. The main ones being Alzheimer’s Society & George House Trust.

In 2022 I lost my Nan to Alzheimer’s, she was my whole world and life without her - well, I can't put it into words. Anyone who knows me knows just how close Nan and I were and the loss has been devastating. It's going to be a long process to find happiness again. I've found that whilst I can keep myself busy with work during the day, I'm struggling at night when I'm home and with my thoughts. So I've decided that I need a project, something to work towards, to keep me busy.

I want to use 2023 to raise as much money as possible for some great causes in memory of her by taking part in various challenges throughout the year.

The first one will be my biggest challenge ever. I've signed up to run the FULL Manchester Marathon. April 16th I'll be taking on the 26.2 mile run and whilst I've never done anything like it before, I’m excited to push myself and raise as much money as possible for these great causes.

I'm also signed up for the Great North Run in September, The Manchester Half Marathon in October and currently looking at other events throughout the year.

Alongside this, I'm looking to take part in various community fundraising events throughout the year to raise as much money as possible

Where the money will go.

The main charity beneficiaries from the fundraising will be The Alzheimer’s Society in memory of my beautiful Nan & The George House Trust to help raise vital funds for those living with HIV.

I would also like to use some of the money towards a lifetime memorial for my Nan and am currently looking at options such as a bench in the Lake District overlooking Lake Windermere where we scattered her ashes in March.

If you can spare even £1 to help raise funds towards these targets it would mean the world.

Why Gofundme and not a charity fundraising page?

I looked into a normal justgiving page however because I want to fundraise over a year and raise money for various charities it would mean creating numerous pages throughout the year which just isn't practical. I am able to withdraw the funds from this at any time whilst keeping the page open which means after each event I can send the money straight on to the charities without a long wait
