My father, Karl Whitehead, was killed while on duty as a security officer in Modesto, CA this last Friday night. He was defending a woman working at a parking garage, and was brutally attacked. I still cannot believe the senseless, ruthless nature of this act.

I want to express my gratitude and awe of the love and respect that my father, myself and my family have received from his fellow security officers, the amazing team of dedicated and gracious professionals at Doctor’s Medical Center and all the others that I’ve had heartfelt encounters and experiences with over the last few horrific days! My dad died doing what he loved, helping someone in need, and proudly standing up for for principles that he believed in...Protecting and Serving!
