Support Paul in honoring his mother's fight against Cancer
Donation protected
Hi everyone,
My name is Paul, and I'm reaching out with a heavy heart asking for support. Recently, my mom, Han Yun Hee, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer that has spread to her liver. Thanks to everyone, I was able to get my mom safely to the US and help her get started on treating her Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer.
After a round of chemotherapy, my mom did not respond as we had hoped to the chemo. The cancer was violently spreading and had reached her liver, her lungs, and had started shutting down the rest of her organs.
On the 25th of August, I woke up at midnight with a sudden urge to just be with her. I stayed with her, holding her hand, singing hymnals, and praying that she have no pain. As the hours passed, she drew her final breath. At first, I couldn't believe it. But when the nurse pronounced her passing, I was struck with the worst sorrow I had felt in my entire life.
My mother is the definition of the American Dream, and the strongest, most loving, and caring mother I have ever known.
She lived a hard life, coming to the US with practically nothing, and raised me and my sister with everything she could have known. She started a successful business that allowed her to provide an incredible childhood for me and my sister.
However, my father, has subverted her successes, stealing everything, not letting my mother have even a bank account to her name, and divorced my mother in a sham divorce, falsifying the divorce, falsifying her signatures, and falsely notarizing that she had been served and had accepted a divorce settlement that left her with practically nothing.
I supported my mother for years, when I found out that she was working everyday, struggling to make ends meet while my sister did not contribute to their living situation. My mom had, for over 15 years, still believed that she was married to my father, not realizing that my father had divorced her in a settlement that left her with nothing.
For the past few weeks, I have been fighting to correct the injustices that were done to my mother, while simultaneously caring for her and providing her with the best treatment possible. While my sister had abandoned her and left back to Korea stating that she "did not want to be stuck here waiting for Mom to die".
Now, my mother's story has come to a close, but her epilogue is still mired in doubt and in need of fighting to correct the wrongs that had been done to her. In her memory, I am working to inter her in the US, as per her wishes to pass as a proud US citizen.
My mother made something for herself and her family from nothing. The memory of my strong, but naively trusting, mother provides a story that cautions against being too giving and too trusting. But her love for others, for her family, and for God should stand as a testament and beacon for showing just what someone can accomplish with faith and love.
For the past 15 years, my mom has endured incredible hardships, including being an absentee parent and suffering abuse from my father. Despite these challenges, she has been the pillar of strength for me. Now, to honor her memory, she needs strength and support more than ever.
I have never set up a donation page before or thought of getting this message out like this, but I plan to start this GoFundMe campaign to help cover the costs of her treatment and related expenses. The cost of chemotherapy for stage IV pancreatic cancer can range from $55,000 to $150,000 for the first year, with no guarantees of success. Now that she has passed, my goal is to cover the expenses that were incurred and to provide her a proper memorial service and internment that she deserves.
How You Can Help:
- Donate: Any amount or resources that can help with the medical expenses, funeral expenses, and other related needs would be greatly appreciated.
- Share: Please share this campaign with your friends, family, and social networks to help spread the word.
- Support: Your words of encouragement and love mean the world to me and help keep my spirits up during this difficult time. Please don't hesitate to contact me with any ideas, options, support groups, contacts, etc.
I'll be updating this page as well as my social media as the situation develops and it will serve as a testament to her memory. At this time, the first phase to get her home and get her treatment started was a success.
In the end, we were able to give my Mom two months to remain in the world with us. I can't thank everyone enough for the previous donations that helped to make this happen.
Thank you for taking the time to read this far. Together, we can make a significant impact and give my mom the strength and care she needs to fight this battle.
What would you give, to get just one more day? To make one more day matter? I'm thankful for every day and every moment that I can get.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Paul
