Hi all! There has been a 7.8 magnitude earthquake in Turkiye and Syria today (Feb 6th 2023) at 4:17am local time. 2921 people have been killed and 15834 injured. Over 3000 buildings have collapsed in Turkiye, displacing many people. Additionally, this is all happening during a blizzard. The Turkish Embassy and consulates in the US are collecting in-kind donations to aid those in need in Turkiye.
If you can, I urge you to please send any of the following items to the Turkish Embassy (2525 Massachusetts Ave. NW Washington DC 20008) or any Turkish Consulate in the US:
- Blankets
- Tents
- Sleeping bags
- Pocket warmers
- Winter clothing
- Over-the-counter medications for flu, cold, pain-killers
- Flashlights
- Hygiene products
- Canned food
If you do not have time to send the items yourself, please donate to this fundraiser ASAP, and we will buy as many of the above items as we can with the available funds. Afterwards, we will post the receipts here so everyone can see what we were able to send.
