Injured Stray Puppy in Need of Medical Care!

Donation protected
Hi everyone,

Today I was walking home in the old north end in Burlington when I encountered an individual in severe mental and emotional distress riding their bike and dragging a leashed young puppy behind them. Witnesses say the puppy had been dragged for several blocks. The puppy was injured and bleeding on paws and chest, with a swollen face and neck. I confronted the individual about the puppy, and they yelled “I can’t take care of this dog anymore, take it!” She repeated, “I can’t take care of this dog, will you take it?”

Shocked and stunned, I willingly obliged knowing that the puppy was not safe with this person and needed immediate medical care.

I am currently with the dog at BEVS who is being evaluated for wounds.

It is a 4 month old female puppy.

In order for BEVS to not surrender the puppy to animal control as a stray and give me and my partner more time to assess our capacity to adopt the dog ourselves or find a good home for it, we need to declare financial responsibility of the dog, which we have.

As two individuals living on a fixed income, we are reaching out to community to help us cover the immediate emergency costs for the puppy, which includes wound care, antibiotics, and shots.

Please consider donating whatever is in your capacity and sharing the story. We will provide updates as we learn more!

Love,
Ana and Jenny
