Help Levi Heal — Injured Stray Found Outside My Door

On January 1st, I found a stray cat outside my door. He returned the evening of January 2nd, and it was clear he needed help. He was limping, had a visible injury to his chin, something appeared wrong with his private area, and he was extremely vocal, friendly, and completely exhausted. I couldn’t leave him outside like that, so I brought him inside to keep him safe.

I immediately did everything possible to locate an owner. I contacted local animal control to report a found cat and posted on Ring, Nextdoor, Petco Love Lost, and multiple Facebook groups. Unfortunately, no owner has come forward.

On Saturday, January 3rd, I took him to my vet to be checked for a microchip. He did not have one, and due to the legally required 3-day stray hold, the clinic was unable to perform a medical exam at that time. As soon as the stray hold ended, I brought him back to the vet today for a full evaluation. I’ve temporarily named him Levi.

Levi’s Medical Needs & How You Can Help

1) Ungloving injury to his chin
Levi has a serious ungloving injury to his chin, meaning the skin has separated from the tissue underneath. This is painful and requires surgical repair. The vet believes this was likely caused by a bite or by his chin/jaw getting caught on something.

2) Undescended testicle
One of Levi’s testicles did not descend. He will need additional surgery along with neutering to determine if a second testicle is present and safely remove it if necessary.

3) Enlarged nose
Levi’s nose is enlarged, which the vet believes is from an old injury or something he was born with.

4) Care already completed
I have already paid for:
His vet exam
Vaccinations
Combo test for Feline HIV & Leukemia (he tested negative)

Thanks to a rescue discount, his basic care originally estimated at $190 was reduced to $95, which I have already covered.

I have attached the vet’s estimate for his upcoming surgery, which is expected to be approximately $750–$1,000 depending on findings during the procedure.

About Levi
Levi is truly a special cat:
  • Extremely affectionate and gentle
  • Easy to handle (the vet commented on how cooperative he was)
  • Litter box trained
  • Currently eats wet food due to his jaw injury
  • Loves cuddling, sleeping, and being close to people
  • Weighs about 10 lbs
  • Very vocal when food is involved
  • Will demand cuddles, climb into your lap, and fall asleep
  • Loves jazz music and white noise
  • Does well in a crate and in the car
  • Allows me to pick him up with no issues

Why I’m Asking for Help
I stepped in because Levi needed someone, but the cost of surgery and continued care is more than I can manage alone. I am actively reaching out to rescues, and I’m hopeful that if we can raise enough to cover his surgery, a rescue will be able to take him and help place him into a foster or forever home.
Every donation will go directly toward Levi’s veterinary care. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser so more rescues and potential fosters can see him.

Thank you for helping Levi get the care he needs and for giving this incredibly sweet boy a chance at a safe, pain-free future. ❤️
