Hi my name is Mahmuda, I have started this gofundme as I have recently visited Marrakech and have found a stray cat with a severe gaping wound in my hotel. I have seen it on the first day I arrived sleeping on the sofa outside and did not notice the wound till about 4 days later when I saw it again and gave it food. Whilst he was eating I saw a big wound at the bottom of his pelvis area where the internal organs were exposed. There was a foul smell coming from the area and I was honestly shocked at the severity of the wound. I spoke to the hotel security who told me the cat has been coming here to sleep and rest for about a week. I don’t know how it survived this long with a wound that bad all I can say is that God kept him alive for a reason. I am glad I got to cross paths with him as no one else was willing to help. The cat is very scruffy from the back and looks malnourished. It is a very sweet and gently cat who doesn’t bite or scratch and wants a second chance in life. He has the most beautiful kind eyes and despite the pain he looks at me with trust.

I have been in contact with a organisation called alifrescue.organisation on Instagram who has been great help. They have been in contact with a person in Marrakech who said can help if I bring it to the vets. I bought a pet carrier to transport the cat to the vet via taxi. The cat is with Clinique Vétérinaire Targa in Marrakech and he will be staying with them for 3 weeks for a full recovery. He has a respiratory problem so they will try do a local anaesthesia to clean and stitch the wound up. He has parasite problem in the ears so they will treat him for that also. A woman has volunteered to take him once he recovers. If anyone else wants to know more information you can get in contact with the vet. We have decided to call him Almas ‘Diamond’ after the hotel he was found in. He truly is a diamond as he is precious to me and everyone else who has been touched by this. His strength to stay alive has brought me to tears and I wish I could bring him back to the UK.

I am seeking anyone who can donate even something small to help cover the costs to save this cat. I am a huge animal lover with two cats of my own and I could not leave this cat to suffer alone. Every life is important no matter how small and we must be the voices for them. As a Muslim myself my religion teaches me to be merciful and compassionate towards animals as we will be held accountable on the day of judgement.
