I’ve had a really horrific last year and a half as most people close to me know. January 2024 I fell on ice and tore a disc in my lower back. That left me in horrible pain as well as unable to work. I made it through the year, owing money to my landlord at the end of it, but I still made it through! My back pain was easing and things were looking up for me!

On March 10th, it was 60° out and I was going to go to the park with my dog for the first time in a year. I didn’t make it to the park. I tripped over a curb and broke my ankle while badly spraining the other. Being unable to put weight on either leg meant that I had to go to an inpatient physical therapy rehab. I’m being released today after 8 weeks in! However, I need a lot of help to move to an accessible apartment!

I’m unsurprisingly being evicted now, I’m doing what I can to fight it in court but “I got injured and couldn’t work” isn’t a good excuse in the eyes of the law. The bills keep growing and the rent keeps piling up, I’m really at a dead end.

I have no idea how much everything will cost. I don’t even know how much debt I have to my landlord now since I’ve been in the hospital forever. This breakdown is an estimation!

$10,000 - landlords pockets
$8,000 - first months rent, security deposit, moving costs
$500 - dog walker for one month
the rest: meals, medical supplies, new shoes, vet treatment for my dog, etc.

any funds that might be raised beyond the goal will go to the general of upkeep of being disabled. It is so expensive to be disabled!
