Initiative for Depersonalization Studies
Daily life is traumatic for many people around the world today. One end result, PTSD, is widely known. But another, even more prevalent, is hardly discussed at all. Depersonalization-Derealization Disorder (DDD) is recognized by every diagnostic manual yet remains under-recognized by the public at large. DDD is marked by a sense of unreality and detachment from our inner or outer worlds. It can result from ongoing stresses or use of psychoactive substances.
Today, daily life has become intolerable and unreal for people in many parts of the world. If and when peace finally emerges, many will suffer the aftereffects of unprecedented tragedy and human suffering. Both PTSD and DDD are powerful and all-consuming. With ongoing support groups, websites and educational literature IDS is ready and willing to help. But we need to grow.
In 2024, we hope to host a multi-day mini-convention bringing together some of the world’s leading experts on depersonalization-derealization. But this takes money. Now celebrating out Sixth Anniversary, we remain the only nonprofit dedicated to research, publicity and education of this baffling, persistent disorder. A painful mental state that affects millions, literally. So please help us gear up for the future with a donation, large or small.
