Miaozota Initiative: Help us not become homeless

Me and my elderly mother have been living in this old weekend lodge since five years ago, and have slowly transformed it into a country house in the outskirts of Zaragoza, Spain. While living here, we took in a colony of over 40 cats that we've been feeding and sheltering. But in recent years, feline diseases, overexpensive vet bills, hit-and-runs, and direct attacks (yes, attacks) from some heartless people outside have severely hurt my spiritual, mental and financial power, leaving me in a bottomless pit of debt. And now, me, my mother, and my cats are all at risk of becoming homeless.

I took upon myself to rescue some stray cats from a small town nearby. Seeking help from animal protection groups was my first option, but unfortunately, they were overwhelmed and couldn't help much. This empowered me to start this project. On top of that, the actual landowner has given us the opportunity to buy it for a very good price, but I don't have the savings necessary to get a mortgage, and my debt with the bank is making it even harder. Still, the bigger problem is that the landowner won't be able to keep his offer for long and, come October, circumstances may become harsher for everyone, and we might be forced to leave.

I have two jobs and work part-time Saturday and Sunday, and even then, helping a colony of over 40 cats has become financially and mentally impossible, so my last recourse was to open this GoFundMe and seek help, so I can gather the funds I need to pay my debt with the bank and the vet clinic, get a mortgage, buy the land and secure our home. I have also opened a Teaming account for those who wish to donate a monthly amount, so I can fund the daily costs of feeding, treating, deworming the cats, etc...

With this amount of money, I'll be able to buy the land, fence it, and build a new shelter to better protect the cats and keep them under control, with special rooms to separate those who are sick, and a nursery. I also want to build about three small houses so the cats can take visitors and spend a day bonding with them, knowing them better first-hand, enjoying their company and their surroundings, and hopefully get adopted.

Mi madre y yo vivimos desde hace cinco años en este viejo chalet de fin de semana que poco a poco hemos convertido en casa de campo a las afueras de Zaragoza. En él ha crecido una colonia gatuna a la cual hemos dado alimento y amparo el tiempo que llevamos aquí pero en los dos últimos años, las enfermedades, atropellos y ataques (si, ataques) de algunos desalmados han hecho mella en mi capacidad financiera y anímica. He echado una mano a algunos gatos del pueblo también. Recurrir a las protectoras ha sido mi primera opción, pero desgraciadamente están sobresaturadas y han tratado de echarme una mano, eso también me ha motivado a hacer este proyecto. Además, el actual dueño de la propiedad nos ha dado la oportunidad de comprar la casa por un muy buen precio pero no cuento con los ahorros necesarios para poder solicitar una hipoteca, aunque el problema mas grande está en que no podrá retenerme la oferta por mucho tiempo y en Octubre las circunstancias puedan volverse muy difíciles para todos.

Tengo dos trabajos y hago algunos suplementarios los sábados y domingos porque el ayudar a más de cuarenta gatos, está siendo una locura financiera, de ahí que me haya lanzado a hacer un GoFundMe para buscar ayuda para hacer un proyecto de refugio y hospedaje. También he abierto una cuenta en Teaming para tratar, en la medida de lo posible, cubrir los gastos diarios de alimentación, desparasitación, etc...

Es por ello que los fondos que se recauden van a ser para la compra del terreno, vallarlo, construir un espacio para tener a los gatos en un lugar seguro bajo control con separaciones para los enfermos y enfermería, poner dos o tres micro-casas para recibir visitantes que puedan pernoctar en el recinto, conocer a los gatos de primera mano, disfrutar del lugar y el entorno.
