Infiniti school caters for children with social, emotional and mental health needs, with students ranging from 11-16 years. Like many educational providers this academic year, we opened in October 2020, and despite the global chaos that Covid19 continues to cause, many of our students have impressed us greatly with their consistent engagement in online learning and now in-class. However we acknowledge that, like many young people whose lives have been so disrupted, some of our students have struggled.
While the needs of the young people are higher at Infiniti than many other learning establishments, all students are nonetheless treated as the distinct individuals they are, and this is something on which we pride ourselves. Needs manifest themselves manifest themselves in varying ways: from self-harm, anxiety issues, low self-esteem and a lack in self confidence, eating disorders, being young carers.
To help address their many social and emotional needs (not to mention to help put some fun, context-rich, educational life-skills into action) I am proposing a sailing trip that will be life-changing for our children, for our young people here at Infiniti.
Working closely with the Cirdan Trust, we have successfully led a sailing and residential trip previously, without exception these trips represent amazing value. All students receive a sailing qualification along with life skills that will stay with them forever. The young people gain resilience, confidence, learn how to cook their own meals, take responsibility for themselves, others and equipment and build relationships with staff and peers as we all support each other. Moreover, while learning new skills independently they happen to be visiting beautiful parts of the British country: Cornwall , Dorset and Isle of Wight.
Of course, nothing comes for free in life, and one would expect such special opportunities to be no exception. However, much of the cost of the trip (already confirmed for May 2022- totalling £9,834) will be riser through fundraising from this term until the trip itself.
Certainly, every bit does help but I am confident that you will agree that our young people really have been through it these past two years, their lives and aspects of their education essentially having been disrupted if not for some put on hold. This is an opportunity to work to help shape the lives of our young stakeholders and it would be wonderful if you can help make that happen with us.
In the meantime, should you have any for their questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch through the website, our mobile number (07852458080)
