Infant Burn Awareness - Our Story ❤️

Every day, 30 infants are rushed to the hospital due to accidents involving scalding liquids, burns, or other injuries. This equates to 10,080 cases annually. 

Tragedy struck on August 16th, just 12 hours after celebrating Alayla's first birthday. Amidst my routine of preparing morning coffee and allowing Alayla's porridge to cool, disaster unfolded. Within a mere 4 seconds, a loud crash and her cries reached my ears. Turning around, I found Alayla on the floor, my spilled coffee surrounding her. Swiftly, I removed her pajamas and sought solace under a cold shower to ease her pain.

In less than 5 minutes, we were in the car en route to our local emergency department. Despite the brief 7-minute drive, it felt like an eternity. Upon arrival, Alayla received immediate attention, medication, and cleaning. Photographs were sent to the prestigious Brookfield Burns Hospital, the region's finest, and we were urgently summoned there. Gathering our belongings, we embarked on a 2-hour journey. Upon arrival, Alayla's hair was shaved, and her head, face, and shoulder were carefully attended to and bandaged.

Throughout our 7 day stay, the hospital staff have proven to be guardian angels. Their level of care is unparalleled; they extend their kindness to not only Alayla but also to me, offering solace as maternal guilt and tears arise. They ensure our sustenance, comfort, and most importantly, Alayla's wellbeing. Unfailingly prompt in administering pain relief, cuddles, and bandage changes, their care is unwavering. With kindness, they reassure us, cleaning her wounds thrice daily.

To honor their exceptional dedication, I aim to raise funds for the ward and fulfill their Amazon wishlist. Additionally, I aspire to collaborate with burn charities, raising awareness about infant and toddler burns.
