Indya's Hoops for Hope

Indya Haynes, 19, a standout basketball player and track star at Kosciusko High School, was just beginning life as a high school graduate and learning to be independent. Indya began noticing swollen lymph nodes in her neck during her senior year of high school.  At first, as a typical teenager would do, she did not pay any attention to the knots, but these knots would come and go.  Each time the knots would return, they got bigger.  Indya's mom took her to the doctor several times for a year.   After returning to another doctor, a sonogram was ordered.  The sonogram revealed a mass in her neck.  Indya was immediately referred to an Ear, Nose, and Throat doctor.  The ENT ordered a biopsy and the dreaded diagnosis of Hodgkin's Lymphoma was given.  On November 3, 2017, Indya had her first visit with her oncologist.  On November 16, 2017, Indya will have a chemo port put in so she can begin having chemotherapy the week after Thanksgiving.  She will receive chemo 2 x weekly along with lab visits to determine if she is strong enough to endure and continue the treatments.  Indya will undergo chemotherapy for 6 months and may possibly have radiation also.  During this time of many unknown factors and before her diagnosis,  Indya's mom's job transitioned and her insurance for Indya was cut off.  Pamie, Indya's mom, is having to pay all out of pocket expenses due to lack of insurance so that medical treatment will continue.  A mother's love will go to the end of the earth and back for her children no matter what the circumstances are.
Indya has so much to look forward to.  This diagnosis is not a death sentence but a fight that will be fought with all of her might.  We know God is in control and knows what Indya's future holds.  Her family's main concern needs to be focused on Indya's will to beat this dreaded "C" word and not on the burden of medical and travel expenses!!
