Indy Needs Your Help for Urgent Surgery
Donation protected
Hi all,
I’m reaching out on behalf of my friends Jake and Erica, whose dog, Indy, is in urgent need of surgery. Indy is more than just a pet; he is family and has been Jake’s best friend since he first adopted him. He has been a constant source of love, comfort, and companionship for Jake and his family through some of life’s toughest moments.
I've had the joy of watching the incredible bond between Jake and Indy grow over the years, and I've even had the honor of dog-sitting Indy myself. I can say without a doubt—he's one of the sweetest, most loving, and delightfully goofy dogs I've ever met. Whether he's making you laugh with his antics or snuggling up for a cuddle, Indy is a constant source of joy and comfort. He truly has a way of brightening every room he waddles into.
What does Indy’s dad say about him? “Believe it or not, this big-time snuggler used to fight other dogs and when he first came home, had scars all over his face and chest. Since then, he has been the happiest dude on the planet. He loves his family and follows his dad like a shadow. He loves to play with his toys, snuggle on laps, bask in the sunshine, and sleep on Dad's chest (at 60 lbs, he still thinks he's 40)! He's still a puppy at heart and wants to be best friends with everyone.”
How does Indy’s mom describe him? “The noble and majestic pygmy land hippo is a creature teetering on the brink of extinction. The pygmy land hippo enjoys basking in the hot Arizona sun, digging holes to aerate the compact clay soils, and embracing the native biota by rolling in said piles of dirt. Known by his keepers as Indy, this pygmy land hippo also goes by Bubba, Meatball, or Butterball Turkey Boy. Despite his size, he is a gentle creature, often surrounded by backyard birds who have lost their fear of this dusty land mass. Though his bark is formidable, it is reserved for cats straying too close to the property lines, a warning that these lands and birds are under his protection. He has only tried to eat a hummingbird once. To be fair, he thought it was a bee. He loves those stripey stingy snacks.”
Recently, this incredible dog was unfortunately diagnosed with acanthomatous ameloblastoma (AA). After attempts to remove it earlier this year, it has grown back. The next step is surgery to remove the front of his lower jaw. Although finances were a huge concern, his parents decided they have to move forward with the surgery—with the $6,000 price tag. As you can imagine, this unexpected expense is overwhelming. Jake and his family would never ask for help on their own, so I’m doing it for them—because Indy deserves every chance at a happy, healthy life.
Every donation—no matter how small—will go directly to Indy’s surgery cost. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this campaign would mean the world to us.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, love, and support. Let’s get Indy back to his wrecking ball self with his incredible bursts of zoomies, and enjoying his constant stream of snackies.
