Industry Fund: Ministerial Consultation Medicinal Cannabis
As member-based peak bodies responding to strategic advice from members, MCIA and AMCA are setting up this industry initiative to provide the most appropriate submission to the TGA's information gathering consultation. Whether you are a member of AMCA and/or MCIA, or not a member of either organisation, this is the opportunity for industry stakeholders to provide funding to obtain expert advice to bolster our submission. This expert advice that will ultimately assist us in having a sustainable framework that supports patients.
The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has launched a public consultation seeking input from stakeholders on the safety risks associated with unapproved medicinal cannabis products, particularly those containing higher levels of THC and the adequacy of oversight under the Special Access Scheme (SAS) and Authorised Prescriber (AP) pathways.
This consultation arrives amid growing public and professional concerns, and its outcome may significantly influence the regulatory environment governing our industry.
MCIA and AMCA are collaborating on this consultation and to this end have established this fund.
This fund will:
-Commission expert-led submissions and regulatory analysis;
-Engage appropriate legal services to support the submission;
-Coordinate advocacy campaigns and stakeholder engagement;
-Develop clear, industry‑supported messaging to inform the TGA and broader public discourse.
Thanks in advance for your contribution to this initiative. Please note that this fund raising campaign will close COB Wednesday, 3 September 2025 so that funded work can be commenced.
