Indoor Skate & Roller Sports Park
PLEASE SIGN OUR PETITION - bottom of page
Do you want to join us in making a difference? We're raising money in aid of the RollBack World campaign to develop an indoor roller sports facility and every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to us.
RollBack is a nonprofit community organisation, meaning we re-invest funds to aid further projects for your young people in and outside of mainstream schooling and education. Yes, RollBack is a roller sports programme, but more accurately, it aims to be a public place for skateboarding, scootering, BMXing, art, music, events, after school programs, enterprise education, mentorship and inspiration.
More information about RollBack: We aim to improve the lives of young people and their families through the use of recreational and educational activities and workshops. We are striving to create a safe, secure indoor urban sport centre for BMX, Skateboarding, Skating, roller skating, scootering and urban action sports that is sustainable. We will provide a safe place for YP to have fun, grow their self esteem, confidence, skills enabling them to make a positive social contribution to their community.
WHY AN INDOOR SKATEPARK? - Rained out Skatepark...in August!
While there are outdoor skateparks, they lack basic facilities such as toilets, refreshments, lighting or crucially, shelter – and is a real pain when it rains! Sadly the nearest indoor skatepark is about an hour away north or south up the motorway and therefore often inaccessible for local people and their families.
Not only is BMX and Skateboarding now an Olympic Sport making their debut in the Tokyo 2020 Games attracting a whole new wave of interested participants but our ethos has always been on promoting progression in Wheeled Sports and demonstrating how it is an alternative to traditional sports with the associated health benefits, social inclusion, community development, employability and and an opportunity to nurture creative & sporting talent!
OUR VISION:
Within the skatepark building we aim to have a cafe, shop and educational workshop space. We will provide a safe space parents can have confidence in as well as a place for riders of all ages to 'escape'! Ultimately, we will make our space somewhere for locals to learn, laugh and have fun!
THE COSTS
We are realistic in making our vision a reality and this means we will be working towards our end game over the next few years, culminating our own indoor facility
There are 2 plots of land we have earmarked and funds provided will go towards the following;
● The cost of commercial land
● Paying for the design of a skatepark
● Funding of materials and heavy duty equipment
● Replacing stolen mobile skatepark - used to generate further income
● Skateboards, safety equipment & skate hardware
● Providing training to locals to become youth leaders & instructors
TOTAL - £658,000 in the next few years.
Phase 1: Replacing stolen mobile skatepark to generate further income - £15,000
Phase 1: Purchase of mobile skatepark equipment - £5,000
Phase 1.5: Land security & legal fees - £50,000
Phase 1.5: Park design & architectural costs - £8,000
Phase 2: Premises build & construction £355,000 (fundraising now)
Phase 3: Future phase - £225,000
BUY OUR BOOK: As part of our fundraising efforts above we are in the process of writing a book with an initial working title of "Roller Sports and Me!" The book will reflect how roller sports and mental health entwine with an exploration how participants 'escape' using roller sports. To this end, consider this, that for every donation of £10 or more a free digital copy of our book will be sent to you.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Of course raising money is our top priority, but we appreciate that it’s not always possible.
So;
- please share our campaign as far & wide as possible. Friends, family & enemies (yes! This is that important to us and need as many people as possible to know about what we’re doing)
- get in touch with all businesses large or small; they may not provide funds, but maybe advertising, printing services, timber for ramps, important contacts...something!
- if you’d like to dedicate some of your time please get in touch; [email redacted]
Please check back regularly because this will be a long haul and we’re gonna have lots to share!
THANK YOU.
