Indoor Heaters for WNC - Hurricane Helene Victims
Donation protected
Just 2 weeks after Hurricane Helene recovery is underway across Western North Carolina, however needs are changing as temperatures have begun to drop into the 30s and below for most of the region, and only getting colder as fall rolls into winter. Many hard hit communities of WNC remain partially or fully cut off from society, without power and other essentials to heat their living & sleeping spaces for what could be months or longer.
We are raising money to provide as many of the people and families of WNC with INDOOR SAFE propane space heaters, which I have priced to be anywhere from $80-$200 per unit depending on the heating ability. A standard 20lbs propane tank can run these heaters (depending on the size, area, usage) anywhere from 10-12 hours per day for up to 2 weeks.
With the severe strain on emergency response resources in the area, we are also hoping to use this effort to encourage folks against using other forms of heating that create dangerous fumes and hazards if used indoors.
Every penny is going towards heaters and propane tanks for the folks that need it most as temperatures are only going to continue dropping. These will be delivered directly to the communities hardest hit in the counties and small towns experiencing devastation across WNC.
