Salutations! My name is Indigo. Many of you know me, but for those who don't let me introduce myself. I am a 30 year old QTPOC trans person who uses they/she/he pronouns. I have spent the last few years traveling and serving various communities including the Nomenus Wolf Creek Sanctuary, Slab City, and many other queer and trans spaces. I am currently settled in Oregon for a while to stabilize and prepare for bottom surgery.
I have been gearing up for phalloplasty for a while now and have my second consult scheduled for October 1st with Dr. Gurjala at Align Surgical. This process has been many years in the making and is finally becoming a reality, which is exciting and nerve wracking.
Part of preparation includes ensuring I am financially stable enough to afford travel expenses, electrolysis, temporary housing in the Bay area, and medical supplies for the various stages of phalloplasty. I am fortunate enough to have this procedure covered by insurance, however all of the secondary expenses that come with getting a major procedure done are not covered by insurance, so I am asking for some community support.
I am currently estimating the total cost of expenses to be around $6000, however that may fluctuate as I spend the next few months preparing and seeing what the reality of the situation is.
I have received a lot of support from many kind souls over the years. I have faith that we can come together yet again so I can get this crucial gender affirming care. The many steps of phalloplasty are the last of my goals in regards to medical transition.
With the current administration passing legislation to restrict access to gender affirming care many trans people are being affected and feeling the increasing pressure to get life saving medical care before our health insurance no longer covers it. Your contribution directly helps me during a deeply challenging time in queer history.
Any and all donations are deeply appreciated, no amount is to small. One of the most important parts of fundraising is visibility, so please help share this far and wide to ensure as many helpful hearts as possible can see this and have the opportunity to support.
My deep gratitude can not be expressed in words alone. I am truly greatful to all those who continue to support me on the various stages of my gender journey. So many of you have provided physical, emotional, mental, and financial support to me in the past and I can not sing my praises of y'all enough.
Thank you for your time and care, it truly means the world to me.
Best regards,
Indigo
