Hello! Hamiintamc! I am the founder of the Indigenous Book Club Server. My name is Carolann Duro. We are a group of Indigenous people and non Indigenous people that have come together with the educational goal of reading more Indigenous authored and Indigenous topic books. We have nearly 300 members as of 08/10/2020. We have exploded in less than a week. Part of our mission is to be able to share books free of charge so that it is accessible to as many people as possible. We have been able to find free digital versions for most/all of our books and readings. With that in mind, we'd also like to be able to gift books to those that cannot afford to purchase books at this time or have a physical copy of a book. Reading and books is one of the best windows into educating and liberating one's mind from the settler colonial capitalist system that has enslaved, killed, and inflicted trauma on our people and others for generations. I have been donating my own money and investing into this server, but hope that others who would like the opportunity to help us and see us thrive would also like the chance to do the same. We will also accept used book donations. Feel free to contact me on GoFundMe. We are also hoping to raise money to boost the server. I've signed up from my personal pocket to boost the server twice a month, however we need to unlock 13 more to improve our server. This would give us better chatting, audio, and video abilities to connect with each other. We're hoping to have more money for boosts by September. We're also hoping to have enough money to purchase books as soon as possible or by October, when we plan on reading a physical book. We also sincerely hoping to raise money to be able to launch our website. We are planning and working on making a website on Squarespace so that our book club can become accessible to even more people. But Squarespace costs $12 a month and domain costs $18 a month, so if you're considering prices to donate consider funding us a month of hosting a website!
