Indie’s Christmas Miracle

Sweet baby indie made the recovery of a lifetime after spending hours in critical condition.

After Indie swallowed something she shouldn’t have, we made a trip to Bay Beach Emergency Veterinary Hospital on Thursday, December 14th. She was given some fluids and her X-rays weren’t showing anything abnormal so we went home. She didn’t eat dinner but seemed reasonably normal otherwise. At 1:30AM on Friday she became ill again. She was rushed to the only emergency vet that would take her. She struggled from 3:30AM to 8:15AM laying on the floor in the waiting room. When she was finally seen she could barely walk, was shaking from dehydration, and the look in her eyes was unbearable.

With nothing left in her, her tests at this point showed that she was in extremely critical condition. The toxin levels in her body were an 8.1 where normal levels are a 1.8. Her blood pressure was down to 38. Her insides were failing her. Her doctor fundamentally recommended putting her to sleep was our best option. They had no idea how she could have become so ill so quickly.

Knowing she would fight with us, we did everything we could for her. We transported her as soon as we could back to Bay Beach where they accepted her and rushed her to the ICU. When her doctor first saw her, she was fighting the clock. The doctor gave Indie less than 40% chance to make it through a very necessary surgery.

Making waves, Indie’s vitals improved significantly. Everyone that saw her was amazed at how lively she was compared to when she got there. She spent two nights in the ICU, hooked up to fluids and medication, improving scan by scan. In no time, Indie was running around the intensive care unit making friends with all of the staff. They starting calling her the Christmas Miracle ♥️ We are so thankful for the staff that care for her and the amount of people in her corner fighting with us!

Now that Indie has made it through the scariest and most heartbreaking 72 hours, we’re hit with the financial responsibility of her care. Anything you can contribute for her treatment would not go unnoticed! Thank you everyone who has sent love and prayers to sweet Indie
