LSO Horns Perform at IHS 50
Donation protected
The Event:
The Lafayette (IN) Symphony horn section aka Helden Horns has been invited to perform at the 50th International Horn Society conference at Ball State University in Muncie, IN on August 3, 2018!
We will perform “In the Mind’s Eye” a concerto for four horns, by Indianapolis based composer, Jim Beckel. Mr. Beckel will be attending the performance to speak directly about his work that was inspired by art on display at the Indianapolis Museum of Art.
We are honored and excited to be invited to perform this contemporary piece with full orchestra at the 50th anniversary of the International Horn Society. This performance will be the only one during the week long symposium featuring a full orchestra.
The LSO horns are committed to supporting new music which expands the limited repertoire featuring a horn section as soloists with orchestra. Our live peformance with full orchestra will allow us to bring this unique composition to horn players from around the world attending this historic conference.
Raising funds:
In order to represent Mr. Beckel’s true vision we are going to perform the work with a full orchestra. As professional musicians we want to pay our fellow colleagues a fair wage for their rehearsal and performance time. Our goal is to raise $5,000 by August 1, 2018.
