India - World Yoga Competition December 2022
Two of my favorite people (both yogis) have qualified and been invited to go to the world yoga competition in India. This is a HUGE honor, yet very expensive.
One of the men is Anthony Burkhart, co-owner of the San Diego Yoga studio where I have practiced yoga since 2012. He has been studying yoga and practicing for over 25 years. Anthony has changed my life and helped me be a better practitioner of yoga, which has become a lifetime practice for me.
Both Anthony and Artie hope to advance yoga as a sport, increasing its popularity to the point of being adopted as an Olympic event.
“I’ve been competing since 2006 not because I want to win, but because I hope to inspire and motivate people. I also am working to help get yoga into the world Olympics someday and this is what it takes: involvement, persistence and dedication.”
- Anthony
The other man is Artie Capozzi. He is a well-known artist here in San Diego County specializing in one-of-a-kind wood art. He makes everything from guitar stands, wood earrings, ceremonial pipes and much more.
“Since 2002, yoga has literally saved me from many hardships in this life; on the physical and mental level, of course, but mainly on the emotional and spiritual level. I share yoga so others can experience the same healing and growth I've experienced.
Yoga competitions help me to achieve my practice goals as well as help to inspire and increase awareness of its benefits so that maybe, one day, we can have yoga join the Olympics."
- Artie
Both of these men competed in the USA competition held in Iowa in July 2022. They scored high enough that they were asked to attend the world competition in India this December.
Many of us who love and care about these two men know that this is a dream that might be out of their reach. I believe that everyone among you has had a big dream and needed the support of your friends & family at some point in your life. I’m asking that you pass that support on and help donate funds so that these two yogis can buy airfare and pay for accommodations, as well as the fees for the competition. The total cost for both of them to attend is $10,000.
Please give as little or as much as you are called to do. It would also be very helpful if you could forward this link to people who may be able to help.
Thank you for your support.
