India COVID relief by UK Healthcare Professionals

Thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page. My name is Nilesh R. Parmar and I am a healthcare professional based in London. Together with my sister Pratibha, who lives in Mumbai we have elected to try and raise funds to help alleviate the suffering and death which India is currently suffering at the hands of the COVID-19 virus.

Desperate statements from a country that only a short time ago thought it had beaten the virus. With a new mutation that appears to be highly contagious and a healthcare system that cannot even start to cope with the number of COVID cases, India needs our help.
India has surpassed over 200,000 deaths. The World Health Organization (WHO) reported in its weekly update that there were nearly 5.7 million new cases of COVID last week, with India accounting for 38% of them.
They need oxygen, vaccines, respirators, even more wood for the funeral pyres which are sadly burning round the clock in Delhi and Mumbai.
As a UK-born Indian, the above sounds shocking and scary. I never envisaged seeing the scenes that have been shown in mainstream media over the last few days.
We must help, and at this time, the best way to do so is to fund the charities on the ground who are doing excellent work, not only with immediate COVID initiatives but longer-term issues, such as mental health, housing, and food.
With my sister Pratibha who lives in Mumbai, we have chosen charities that we know is doing good work locally. One such charity is known as the Hemkunt Foundation, a reputable and transparent charity that has been working throughout the pandemic. @Hemkunt_fdn Their work has been selfless and free of the bureautic bounds which usually affect more mainstream organizations, allowing them to help those in need.

We also intend to donate money to Khalsa aid, along with select charities identified within India, with a prescription for that money to be used in their COVID relief efforts for India.

The money raised will help to source, refill and distribute oxygen cylinders for FREE to those in need. It will go towards housing, schooling, and grieving services for those who have lost their entire lives to COVID.
I ask all my friends and colleagues, we are so fortunate to be in the position we are here in the UK. Please donate whatever you can to this worthy cause, and I will make sure the money goes to the foundation.
