Keep Bruce Rolling 2.0
Dear Family, Friends and Others,
Thanks to all of you, Keep Bruce Rolling 1.0 literally saved my life. Because of your generosity, I was able to upgrade the heating and air conditioning in 3 main areas of my house; kitchen, office and living room. The result of this work allows me to keep cool in the summer and warm in the winter and most importantly out of the hospital. This last holiday season is the first in recent winter in recent memory that I was not hospitalized.
I am reaching out to once more to ask for your help in the next phase of this project or as I like to call it - Keep Bruce Rolling 2.0. My goal for this phase is $36,000 - and with your help, I will soon have free unfettered access to my entire house year round and a chair that will allow me to roll freely without worrying that my next trip will be a one-way venture. Sure, sleeping the living room has its advantages, but having my bedroom back is a dream I’ve been chasing for the past 8 years. And those who know me best, know that being free to roll when and where I want has made me the man I am today.
This year marks my 45th “re-birthday,” defying all odds and doctoral predictions. I could not have made it this far without the support and love from all of you. I don’t think I would be here without your love and my independence. And as you know, my freedom is made possible by my chair. My wheelchair is literally part of me, it is more than just a way to get from point A to point B, it reflects my independence and allows me to be the man I am. While my shoes may last much longer than your shoes, my chair has a shelf life, which is currently coming to an end. I can’t even describe the feeling of being in a crowd of buts trying to see what everyone else is looking at, only to rely on descriptions from those nearby. With my permobil, I can elevate to the level of the crowd and fully participate in any environment.
