Incredible Isla

For those who know Isla, you already understand what a ray of sunshine she is. She's silly, outgoing, cuddly, a fighter, and adores her big sister, Penelope. For those who haven't had the pleasure of meeting Isla yet, you're in for a treat—the joy she brings is immeasurable.

A few weeks ago, Isla underwent major surgery to correct and reconstruct her GI system. While the surgery was initially successful, complications arose during her recovery. Nuala and Justin had to rush Isla back to Lurie's, where she was diagnosed with septic shock and required emergency surgeries. Since then, Isla has been medically sedated, on a ventilator, and receiving strong medications to keep her stable. She's undergone multiple reconstructive surgeries and has more ahead of her. Despite these challenges, her spirit and little body continue to fight hard every day.

Nuala and Justin are an incredible team, supporting each other through this difficult time. The outpouring of love, prayers, messages, and well-wishes has provided them with moments of positivity and gratitude.

To support Isla and be present for her daily fluctuations in stability and emergency surgeries, Nuala and Justin are taking unpaid leave from their jobs. As family and friends of Nuala and Justin, we want to support them in any way we can. Our goal is to raise funds to alleviate some of the financial burden associated with Isla's fight. This will allow Nuala and Justin to focus solely on their two little girls, without the added stress of financial concerns.
