Who are we?

Portland Academy is a designated provision for young people with SEND aged 11-19 who require a highly specialised education from Sunderland and surrounding areas.

Why are we fundraising?

Because we asked our young people what they wanted to see next in our school grounds and we have listened. We are hoping to improve our outdoor area further after heavily investing in a new inclusive play area, by creating a fully inclusive sensory trail and we need your help to make this above and beyond step. We are fundraising so our young people can have the inclusive, accessible, joyful, and life‑enhancing spaces they truly deserve—places that help them feel safe, included, inspired, and celebrated for who they are.

How much are we hoping to raise?

£70,000

The trail will be developed in stages over time, funding one station at a time, depending on funds raised, the project may be delayed until further funding can be secured for each station.
