In-Between Homes

In late spring, Alex Cadena, his wife and three young children had to abruptly evacuate their home due to severe toxic exposure caused by mold within the walls.  The entire family became sick from the toxic conditions. At one point they returned to their home believing the conditions were remediated only to find that wasn’t the case, and subsequently had to leave once again. As they fled their home, they succumbed to the realization the house was uninhabitable. Due to the severity of the toxicity, they’ve lost their belongings, furniture, and a stable place for them to raise their children.  For the past 6 months, the family has been staying in hotels, motels, airbnb’s and rotating between the homes of family and friends. 

The Cadena’s have started the process of trying to relocate to a permanent home -- even looking at purchasing a home -- but it may take months for them to get into a mortgage, purchase new furniture, and appliances, and get back on their feet.

Those of you who know Alex and his family know they are a kind and loving family.  Alex only reluctantly shared his story.  He and his wife have been doing everything to maintain consistency for their children throughout this trying time.  While he wouldn’t come out and ask others for help, this GoFundMe has been created by loving friends who want to help this wonderful family get into a place they can call home where they can feel safe, thrive and be healthy.
