On December 8, 2014 my dog Gracie, a 7 year old rescued great dane, bloated. Bloat is a life threatening emergency in dogs. We caught it immediately and rushed her to the Tufts Animal Hospital in Grafton, Massachusetts. After several hours in surgery, it turned out to be more than that. Her stomach was perforated and created a very big problem for my girl.
My goal is just to get this astronomical bill paid and get her home with us. Tufts continues to increase the estimate and will not perform any services for her until at least 75% of the estimated amount is paid for. She is in need a second surgery because they were unable close her abdomen. Tufts has hospital policies that make it difficult for the blue collar, average American person to pay for the care of their furry family member. Please help get Gracie out of the Tufts expensive hospital and home where she belongs.
A little background on Gracie:
Gracie and her "kennel mate" Shelby, both female blue Great Danes were rescued by the Great Dane Rescue of New England last year. Both of them were the unfortunate victims of a backyard breeder. Both of them were used as the "puppy-mill mamas." They had been used to have several litters puppies each, more than the average dog has in a lifetime. Once they were of no use to the breeder, they were neglected and left alone with the absolute minimal care, shelter, water, and food. The one thing lacking was human contact. They just wanted to be touched by loving hands. The Great Dane Rescue of New England stepped in and were able to save these girls and several other dogs from this breeder. We took these two girls, as they are bonded, and could not separate them. Now Shelby is lost with out her "sister" as she is still in the hospital. The vet bill is something that we were not expecting to get hit with. We need help to pay for it. We all know times are tough, but by donating just a little can help bring my girl Gracie home. I know we would be forever grateful and she would be to. Please consider donating whatever you can to Gracie's fund.
